YouTube has announced the expansion of its shopping affiliate program to the United Kingdom, effective August 6 2026. The move allows eligible creators based in the UK to participate in the platform’s affiliate ecosystem, which previously operated in select regions. By joining the program, creators gain the ability to tag products directly within their videos, Shorts, and live streams.
When a creator tags a product, viewers can click the tag to view product details and make a purchase through the linked merchant’s storefront. YouTube facilitates the tracking of these referrals, enabling creators to earn affiliate revenue on resulting sales. The platform emphasizes that the process is designed to be seamless, keeping the viewing experience intact while offering a monetization path tied to product recommendations.
The initial roster of partner merchants includes well‑known UK retailers such as Wayfair, Currys, Debenhams, Boots, Marks & Spencer, and Etsy. These partners span categories ranging from home goods and electronics to beauty, fashion, and handmade items, giving creators a broad selection of products to align with their content niches.
For creators, the program represents an additional revenue stream that complements existing monetization tools like ad revenue, channel memberships, and Super Chat. By integrating shoppable tags, creators can recommend products they genuinely use or review, potentially increasing audience trust and engagement. The affiliate model also encourages creators to produce content that naturally showcases products, rather than relying on overtly promotional segments.
Interested creators can apply for the program through YouTube Studio, where they will find eligibility requirements and setup instructions. Once approved, they can begin tagging products from the listed merchants and track performance via YouTube’s analytics dashboard.
YouTube’s expansion underscores the growing importance of social commerce within the creator economy. As more platforms integrate shopping features, UK creators now have a dedicated avenue to turn product recommendations into measurable earnings while continuing to focus on the content that drives their communities.
