Threads Launches ‘Your Algo’ Private Feed Controls Alongside Communities Hub

0

Threads has introduced Your Algo, a private feed-control feature that lets users choose to see more or less of specific topics for one, three, or seven days. Announced June 16, 2026 alongside the platform’s 500-million-user milestone, it is rolling out in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, and New Zealand.

Your Algo builds on Dear Algo, the tool Meta launched in February that let users influence their feeds by posting public requests like “Dear Algo, show me more posts about podcasts.” The difference is privacy: with Your Algo, only the user sees the requests, and no public post is required. Both tools are now managed from a single settings hub. The temporary durations are the point. A creator can dial up a topic for a week around a launch and let the feed revert on its own, a level of feed control that rival platforms including X do not currently offer.

The launch came with a broader communities push. Threads is graduating its Communities feature out of beta, adding a Communities Hub to the main menu for discovering and switching between communities, custom Community Icons, and a Community Progress indicator showing when a topic is close to becoming a community. Community Champions recognition is expanding to more members, local communities are starting with native-language tags in Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan, and Live Chats are expanding to more communities with co-hosting capabilities and the ability to quote chat moments directly to feeds.

Meta says communities have become a major driver of engagement on Threads, which is why the company is investing in making them more visible and navigable. For creators, the combination matters: topic-focused communities are where Threads’ growth is concentrated, and Your Algo means audiences can now deliberately tune their feeds toward your niche for days at a time.

The practical takeaway: plant your flag in a community now. Start or actively participate in a community around your niche, schedule Live Chats around your content drops, and post with clear topic signals so Your Algo users looking for more of your subject find you. On a platform where the feed can now be pointed, the creators with the clearest topic identity win.
