Walmart has activated a new drone delivery hub at its Supercenter location in Gastonia, North Carolina, marking another step in the retailer’s expanding aerial logistics network. According to DroneXL, the facility is now operational and designed to support drone flights covering up to a six-mile radius from the store. This range allows the service to reach residential areas in and around Gastonia, including neighborhoods near Myrtle School Road.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has authorized up to 400 drone flights per day from this single hub, reflecting the growing scale of low-altitude commercial drone operations in the U.S. Walmart’s partnership with Wing, a subsidiary of Alphabet, enables the use of specialized delivery drones capable of transporting small packages directly to customer lawns or driveways.

For content creators and small businesses, this development highlights evolving last-mile delivery options that could influence local marketing, product fulfillment, and real-time content strategies—especially for hyperlocal vendors or event-based sellers. As drone delivery becomes more routine in suburban markets, creators may find new opportunities to showcase rapid fulfillment in lifestyle or tech-focused content.

Walmart’s rollout in Gastonia follows similar drone delivery launches in other U.S. cities, underscoring the company’s commitment to testing and scaling autonomous delivery at scale. No additional fees, flight paths, or operational details beyond the confirmed range and daily flight limit were disclosed in the source material. The service remains subject to FAA regulations and local airspace guidelines.
