I’ve used GoPro cameras for years, but repeated overheating issues have eroded any trust I once had in the brand. During multiple shoots—especially in warm conditions or during extended recording—the cameras would suddenly shut down, taking valuable footage with them. It’s not just anecdotal; GoPro’s overheating problems are well-documented in real-world use, and I’ve lived through the frustration more than once. Losing irreplaceable moments because a device can’t handle basic thermal management is unacceptable for a creator who relies on their gear.

The breaking point came when a GoPro failed during a key outdoor sequence, forcing me to scramble for backups and ultimately compromising the final edit. Since then, I’ve stopped recommending GoPro products entirely. Even if the company offered me their latest model for free, I wouldn’t accept it—not because I dislike the idea of free gear, but because I can’t risk another failure on important shots. Trust, once broken by unreliable hardware, isn’t easily rebuilt, especially when alternatives exist.

That’s why I now steer fellow creators toward DJI and Insta360. Both brands have consistently delivered better thermal performance, more reliable operation, and stronger overall value in my experience. While no camera is perfect, DJI and Insta360 have proven far more dependable in the field—critical factors when your livelihood depends on capturing the moment. Until GoPro addresses its core overheating flaws, I’ll keep my distance—and my footage safe elsewhere.
