A recent firmware update from DJI has unlocked impressive but undocumented capabilities in the Osmo Pocket 4P, catching creators off guard with significant enhancements. According to a report from DroneXL dated November 3, 2026, a user in Japan discovered the update enabled up to 18x digital zoom—a notable leap in versatility for the compact handheld device. Alongside the zoom boost, the update introduced new shooting modes labeled “Stage” and “Sunset,” suggesting DJI is refining specialized presets for dynamic lighting and performance scenarios.

While DJI has not officially published details of this update, the changes are already influencing how creators approach mobile cinematography. The addition of Stage mode likely optimizes exposure and focus tracking for well-lit, fast-moving subjects—ideal for events or performances—while Sunset mode appears tailored to preserve warm tones and manage highlights during golden hour shoots. These thoughtful additions reflect DJI’s pattern of refining user experience through intelligent automation, even when delivered via quiet firmware pushes.

Interestingly, the owner who uncovered the features expressed a desire for a zoom limiter, indicating that while the extended reach is welcome, uncontrolled digital zoom can compromise image quality. This feedback highlights a growing creator demand for customizable safeguards in advanced tools—balancing innovation with usability. As DJI continues to evolve its Pocket line, such user-driven insights may shape future updates, reinforcing the brand’s commitment to listening closely to its creator community.
