AstrHori has introduced an 8mm fisheye lens designed specifically for medium format cameras, addressing a long-standing gap in the market. For Fujifilm GFX and Hasselblad shooters seeking the distinctive circular fisheye look, options have been limited—often requiring adapted lenses that fail to cover the full sensor. This new release aims to change that by offering a purpose-built solution.

The lens delivers a true circular image with an expansive field of view, enabling photographers to capture immersive, distorted perspectives previously difficult to achieve on medium format systems. This opens up creative avenues for landscape, architectural, and experimental photography, especially among creators who value Fujifilm’s renowned color science and retro-inspired design in the X-T and GFX lines.

By filling a niche that mainstream manufacturers have overlooked, AstrHori empowers GFX users to explore bold visual styles without compromising image quality or resorting to workarounds. The development reflects a growing trend of third-party innovators supporting specialized creative needs in the medium format space.

For creators invested in the Fujifilm ecosystem, this lens complements the GFX series’ strength in detail and tonal range, allowing them to push artistic boundaries while staying within a system they trust. It’s a meaningful step toward greater lens diversity for medium format photographers.

The arrival of such tools highlights how independent brands are helping expand the creative potential of premium camera systems, encouraging more experimentation and personal expression in photography today.
