Fujifilm has announced a price increase for several of its popular camera models in Japan, effective October 1, 2026. The adjustment impacts key products in the GFX medium format and X-series mirrorless lines, including the GFX100 II, GFX100S II, GFX100RF, X100VI, X-E5, and X-T50. According to the notice released by the company, prices for these models have risen between 6 and 15 percent compared to previous levels.
The move comes amid ongoing shifts in global manufacturing costs and currency fluctuations, though Fujifilm has not detailed the specific drivers behind the adjustment. Notably, the announcement was issued just one day before the new pricing took effect, giving retailers and consumers limited time to adapt. Instax instant cameras also saw increases, with some models jumping as much as 23 percent in price.
Despite the change, Fujifilm continues to be celebrated for its renowned color science and retro-inspired design ethos, particularly across the X-T and GFX lines that appeal to both enthusiasts and professional creators. The X-T series remains a favorite for its blend of classic aesthetics and modern performance, while the GFX lineup offers exceptional image quality for studio and landscape work.
For content creators and photographers in Japan, the price update may influence purchasing decisions, especially for those considering mid-to-high-end gear. However, Fujifilm’s strong reputation for build quality, film simulations, and user-friendly controls continues to strengthen its position in the competitive imaging market. The company has not indicated whether similar adjustments will apply to international markets at this time.
