Panasonic has released firmware version 2.1 for the LUMIX S9, bringing meaningful updates for content creators who rely on compact full-frame mirrorless cameras. The update introduces 4K 50/60p and Full HD recording at 120p/100p/60p/50p frame rates in the lightweight MP4 (Lite) format, offering a more efficient workflow for creators prioritizing file size and editing speed without sacrificing core video quality.

In addition to enhanced video capabilities, firmware 2.1 expands the functionality of the Lens Fn button, providing more customizable options for quick access to frequently used settings during shooting. This allows creators to tailor the camera’s response to their specific workflow, whether adjusting exposure, focus modes, or other parameters on the fly.

Perhaps most notably, the update brings the LUMIX S9 into the LUMIX Flow ecosystem, enabling seamless integration with Panasonic’s mobile app for remote control, file transfer, and streamlined post-production workflows. This connectivity supports creators who use smartphones or tablets as part of their content creation process, particularly for social media or on-the-go publishing.

Owners of the LUMIX S1RII, S1II, and S1IIE models also receive corresponding firmware updates, though specific details for those models were not outlined in the source. The LUMIX S9 firmware 2.1 is now available for download via Panasonic’s official support channels, reinforcing the company’s commitment to evolving its hybrid imaging tools based on creator feedback.
