Accessory maker Tilta has officially announced a new full camera cage system designed specifically for the Sony FX5 cinema camera. The news, reported by CineD, details a minimalist yet adaptable rigging solution aimed at videographers and content creators who demand professional flexibility.

The Sony FX5 is recognized in the industry as a professional-grade tool, celebrated for its advanced autofocus capabilities and full-frame sensor technology. Tilta's new accessory aims to complement this high-performance camera by providing a secure and customizable foundation for building out a complete video rig.

The core feature of Tilta's system is its modularity. While sold as a "full cage," it can be easily converted into a half-cage configuration, giving creators the ability to adapt the camera's protection and accessory mounting to different shooting scenarios. This design philosophy focuses on utility without unnecessary bulk.

Functionally, the cage includes a standalone top plate integrated with a NATO rail for quick-release mounting. It offers numerous 1/4″-20 and 3/8″-16 threaded mounting points with various locating points distributed throughout, along with a cold shoe receiver. These elements provide the essential attachment points for essential accessories like monitors, microphones, handles, and battery plates.

For creators invested in the Sony FX5 system, this announcement highlights the expanding professional ecosystem around the camera. By offering a robust and adaptable physical interface, Tilta enables filmmakers to maximize the utility of their high-end camera in diverse production environments, from run-and-gun shoots to studio setups.
