YouTube TV at $82.99: Base Plan Hike and New Skinny Bundles Reshape the Living Room

YouTube TV raised its base plan to $82.99 per month on April 13, 2026, a $10 jump from $72.99 that continues a long climb from the service’s $35 launch price in 2017. The increase landed on a service with more than 10 million subscribers, making it one of the largest pay TV providers in the United States and giving it roughly 44 percent of the live TV streaming market.

Away from the headline price, YouTube TV spent 2026 unbundling itself. In February it launched genre-specific plans for the first time: an Entertainment plan at $54.99 per month, a Sports plan at $64.99, and a Sports plus News plan at $71.99, each $11 to $28 below the full base plan. New Sports subscribers can lock in $54.99 for the first year. All tiers keep unlimited cloud DVR storage and up to three simultaneous streams, and the sports tiers now bundle ESPN Unlimited, which rolled out September 1, 2026.

The living-room angle is what makes this a creator story rather than just a pricing story. YouTube has said that more than half of its top 100 creators now count the TV screen as their most-watched interface, and TV viewing keeps climbing across the platform. YouTube TV’s growth, its NFL Sunday Ticket carriage and its ESPN integration all pull more viewing hours onto the biggest screen in the house, where YouTube’s own creators compete directly with cable networks for attention.

The takeaway for creators is to program for the couch, not just the phone. Text and graphics need to stay legible at ten feet, pacing can breathe a little more than a Shorts edit, and chapters help TV viewers navigate long videos with a remote. Channels with sports, news or live commentary formats should also note the bundle strategy: YouTube is actively courting the sports audience on TV, and creators in that lane are fishing in a stocked pond.
