TikTok and Amplify Launch ‘The Next Episode’ to Fund Creator-Led Series

TikTok is pushing brands — and the creators who work with them — toward episodic storytelling. The platform has teamed up with creator agency Amplify to launch “The Next Episode,” an initiative that funds creator-led series on TikTok instead of one-off sponsored posts.

The program connects brands with Amplify’s creator network to develop original, social-first series across formats including micro-dramas, interviews, game shows, docuseries and reality-style shows. Brands can participate in two ways: back a Creator Content Series by integrating into a creator’s existing episodic world, or commission a Brand Content Series built around their own intellectual property. Eligible brands can also access production support from TikTok alongside their media investment.

TikTok’s framing is that short-form is growing up. Amy Bradshaw, general manager for Global Business Solutions at TikTok Australia and New Zealand, said the platform is seeing short-form storytelling evolve into episodic narratives where creators build worlds, characters and storylines audiences return to again and again. Amplify co-founder Tom Maynard said the initiative moves creators from performers to storytellers, giving them room to build recurring formats while opening new brand collaboration and audience growth opportunities.

The timing aligns with a broader industry shift. Micro-dramas and serialized short-form are among the fastest-growing formats across TikTok, Reels and Shorts, and all three platforms are now building dedicated episodic products. For brands, the pitch is sustained attention: a recurring series creates multiple touchpoints instead of betting everything on a single viral post.

For creators, the takeaway is to think in formats, not posts. A repeatable series concept — with a recognizable hook, recurring characters or a consistent structure — is becoming a sellable asset to brands, not just a content strategy. Creators with an existing episodic thread should package it: a one-page outline of the format, episode cadence and audience proof points makes it far easier for a brand or an agency like Amplify to say yes.
