Snapchat Spotlight Pays $0.50-$10 per 1,000 Views, Topping Short-Form Rivals

Snapchat’s Spotlight program pays creators more per view than any other major short-form platform in 2026 — but almost nobody talks about it, according to payout research from GhostShorts and a Spotlight guide from PlanetsSnapchat.

The estimated ranges: active Spotlight creators earn roughly $0.50 to $2.00 per 1,000 views, with top-tier creators hitting $2.00 to $10.00+ and viral hits in high-RPM niches occasionally reaching $10-$40 per 1,000. GhostShorts estimates a single viral Spotlight video can pay $5,000 to $50,000+. For comparison, YouTube Shorts pays roughly $0.04-$0.10 per 1,000 views, TikTok’s Creativity Program $0.40-$1.00, and Facebook Reels $0.50-$2.00.

Snapchat does not publish fixed rates — payouts vary by country, watch time, ad demand and niche — and the program has evolved well beyond its 2020 launch, when Snapchat set aside $1 million per day for Spotlight creators. In 2026, payouts are tied to engagement metrics (views, watch time, shares, replays) plus consistency bonuses for regular posters.

Access is gated: since May 2026, creators need at least 100 hours of Total Spotlight View Time over 28 days for maximum Creator Rewards, and Spotlight videos must be at least 30 seconds long to be revenue-eligible.

For creators, Spotlight is the highest-RPM short-form surface most are ignoring — but it demands original content (no TikTok re-uploads), consistency and watch time, not just views.

The takeaway for creators: if you already make short-form video, cross-post originals to Spotlight and track your effective RPM. A platform paying 5-50x YouTube Shorts per view deserves a slot in your distribution plan — provided you can clear the watch-time bar.
